Deme's parents are alive and they struggle to find work to support the family.

Sintayu's father has died. Her mother works hard but does not make enough to suppor the basic needs of the family.

Yordanos is twelve years old and is in the fourth grade. She hopes to become a teacher one day.

Yordanos' father has died. She lives with her mother who does not have permanent employment and struggles to meet the needs of the family.

Bethlehem is thirteen years old and in grade nine. She is an excellent student and hopes to become a doctor.

Bethlehem's mother died and she lives with her father. he tries to find work in the market but does not bring in enough income to support the family.
